Indianapolis Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10

Hello, football enthusiasts. How are you? Alles klar I hope on this fine early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Colts (7-2) take on the Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the first in the nation’s capital.

Pregame Key Moments

As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an accidentally live microphone.

So, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in their last game?

In a similar vein the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Classy.

Opening Period Action

Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter

Here we go! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver cannot reel in a quick pass from Jones. On the play before the turnover on downs Jessie Bates put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!

Touchdown Recap

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.

A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.

A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.

Additional Tenth Week Matchups

Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Panthers v Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Chicago Bears v Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)

  • (2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)

  • (4-4) Vikings v Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)

An exciting lineup. I’m planting my flag on the Vikings and Ravens playing out the top contest of the day.
