Flights Resume at Edinburgh Airport After Substantial Air Traffic Control Outage
Passenger services have restarted at Edinburgh Airport after a significant air traffic control outage grounded all flights.
Every arrival and departure were suspended after an systems problem that arose around 08:30.
Some passengers found themselves stranded in aircraft on the tarmac while the issue persisted.
Operations Restart with Residual Impact
Officials announced at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "cooperation and patience".
Nonetheless, ongoing issues are expected to affect schedules. Services bound for London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been axed, with numerous other services experiencing delays.
Officials had previously estimated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be affected.
"Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the current status on their individual travel plans," was the consistent advice.
